The LCN Policy Network offers a new way for officers in member councils to contribute their expertise and experience to national policy development, while staying close to the key issues shaping local government.
We are inviting expressions of interest for Policy Network Associate roles. These are voluntary, flexible opportunities designed to fit alongside existing roles, with a modest time commitment of around 5–6 hours per month.
Associates will contribute specialist insight, evidence, and practical experience to support LCN’s policy work helping ensure that national policy reflects real world delivery challenges and opportunities.
We are initially recruiting in four areas:
- Planning and place
- Affordable housing
- Homelessness and temporary accommodation
- Waste and recycling
Further phases will expand the Network to cover additional service and policy areas.
What participation offers
Participation is designed as a professional exchange. Officers can expect:
- Opportunities to contribute to policy positions, consultations and briefings
- Experience of national-level policy development
- Insight into emerging policy trends and reforms
- Peer learning and connections across councils
Time commitment
- Four short meetings per year
- Additional input as required
